Inconsistencies In CS3
Well, catching up on all the work I missed while sick. Most importantly are some drafts of a brochure. I used Photoshop to do some mock ups of some designs that I was asked to produce, as I can work a lot faster in there than in InDesign.
After I had a few mockups I wanted to ensure that I could put them into place in InDesign. One of the effects was a chiseled steel look on some text, with a brushed aluminium background. I know, not my favourite, but none the less. Seeing how InDesign won’t be able to render it, I knew I had to put the background in as a *.tif. The text however, should be made in InDesign natively, as to aid in certain changes that will be made to it’s wording further on down the line.
Well, I set up the background image exactly as it should be, set up the text, and the went to add the text effects. Bezel and emboss worked fine, however, as soon as I added the color burn to the object, it failed miserably. Seems Indesign doesn’t like color burn, as all other transparency effects worked appropriately with the bezel. Alas, I am stuck until I figure out another way to get the effect. I don’t want to throw the text in as an image, as scaling will be miserable.
The settings below are the exact same in InDesign as in Photoshop.
No commentsNew Glasses
Yay! My new glasses finally came in. Took about a week, which I find both absurd and odd since Lenscrafters is able to make new lens’ in an hour… The new glasses are different than any I have had before, since I usually have quite lightweight and thin frames. These ones however are thick and heavy, which helps them stay on my head. They are one pair of only 1000 so quite unique.
No commentsMMMMM Galletes
I have been meaning to post this up for ages now. Meant to post it last week, but seeing as I was sick for a gazillion and a half days, I am only just getting it it now.
What You Need:
Dough:
2 cups all purpose flour
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup soy margarine
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup cold water
Apple Filling:
2 red apples (I used simply delicious) sliced very thinly
1 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (ground)
6 teaspoons apricot reserve
canola oil
Making the dough:
Combine the flour, sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Add in the margerine and make sure you cut it into the flour. You want your dough to be very crumbly at this point.
In a small mixing bowl combine the vinegar with the water. Add the vinegar water mixture to the flour bowl, mixing it into the dough with a fork. You want the dough to remain together after you have squeezed it. You may need to add some more water at this point. Roll all the dough up into a ball and let sit in the refrigerator for a while.
While we are waiting for the dough, mix togethor the brown sugar and cinnamon and grease a baking pan.
Get the dough out of the fridge and lightly flour the countertop. Roll out the dough until it is approximately 8mm thick. Cut out eight circles and place them on the baking sheet. Roll togethor the remains and make two more circles.
We will slightly curl up the edges of all the circles to create a crust, you may need to crease them with the fork edge to get the crust to hold position. Spread a serving of apricot reserve into the inner part of the galletes, and place 3 apple slices on top of each one, in a fan-like shape. Spray the apples with a slight mist of canola oil to hold in the moisture during baking, then sprinkle the sugar/cinnamon mixture on the apples.
Bake for 25-30 minutes in a 400*F ( 200*C) oven. Cool and enjoy.
